Your exclusive first look at #StrangerThings season 2 is officially here: https://t.co/VX7a2uOwtP pic.twitter.com/stAY6xGzuC— Entertainment Weekly (@EW) February 8, 2017From previous casting news, we also know that Paul Reiser will also be joining the cast as Dr. Owens, a high-ranking member of the aforementioned shady organization. Also coming to Hawkins are siblings Max and Billy, who interact with the core group of preteens.Duffer said that while Max (played by Sadie Sink) will become a love interest for Lucas and Dustin, Billy, her older brother, might be more malicious.“The evil in the real world is often as bad or worse than the supernatural evil, so we wanted to introduce a character like that,” he said. So, that’s good. The second season of Stranger Things will be hitting Netflix this Halloween. Few things are kept as secret as what’s going to happen in season two of Stranger Things.Entertainment Weekly’s new cover story is on Stranger Things, and while even the publication is strapped for details, we’ve learned a few things about the upcoming season, the Upside-Down, and what’s in store emotionally for some of the characters. One of the biggest cliffhangers from the first season was the fate of Will Byers who returned from the Upside-Down, but not unscathed. In one of the season’s final scenes, we see him coughing up some kind of slug and getting seemingly transported back into the alternate dimension. According to co-creator Matt Duffer, however, what he sees may not be entirely there.“He seems to be seeing images from the Upside Down—the question is whether they’re real or not,” says co-creator Matt Duffer. “So it seems like he’s having some sort of post-traumatic stress disorder.”Another loose thread from the first season involves Sheriff Jim Hopper, who was led into a car belonging to the shady Department of Energy agency that was responsible for Eleven and the portal leading to the Upside-Down. Additionally, Hopper is seen going to an isolated spot in the woods and dropping some Eggos in a box. Was it for Eleven, or did it serve another purpose?Back in Hawkins, he’s taken on a new authority role, especially to those who were involved with the events of Will Byers’ disappearance.“It kind of falls on Hopper to be the voice of authority to say, ‘This did happen, and this didn’t happen,’” actor David Harbour, who plays Hopper, said. “He’s struggling with the compromise that takes him to, having to lie and cover things up.”In the meantime, a lot of characters are trying to get back to normal. Joyce is dating again (Bob, played by Sean Astin), and siblings Nancy and Mike are attempting to deal with the “deaths” of their friends Barb and Eleven.Dustin, played by Gaten Matarazzo, added some levity to the interview, saying that his character will get to bond with a new kind of pet in the upcoming season. Obviously, it’s not something a child should be taking care of.“It’s a little creature I get to bond with,” Matarazzo said. “It’s obviously not from this planet or this dimension.”Otherwise, details are scarce. A teaser that dropped during the Super Bowl highlighted some things we expected, like the return of Eleven, and more from the Upside-Down. This included an amazing shot of some giant creature in a red sky.Entertainment Weekly’s cover, which depicts the five kids at the heart of the story, also shows how they’ve aged in the past year. Granted, most of them look the same, but Millie Bobby Brown is sporting some serious curls that I can’t get enough of.
