Sega has just released a 2 minute Sonic Forces clip which features Sonic zipping around Green Hill Zone. If you’re a fan of classic Sonic games, then you’re going to love what you’re about to see.For those who may not know (shame on you!), Green Hill Zone was the very first world in the original Sonic the Hedgehog. As you can see from the video below, Sonic Forces does a nice job of replicating it. But it’s clear that this is more of a re-imagined version of the stage rather than an exact replica. Sonic Mania also has its own homage to Green Hill Zone. Though it isn’t a carbon copy, it is more faithful to the original.Sonic Forces is considered to be a spiritual successor of 2006’s Sonic Generations. That title was praised by many because it featured both 3D and 2D stages. Like that game, Sonic Forces will star the modern and classic versions of Sonic the Hedgehog. It will also have a third playable character, though who that could be is unknown at the moment. Whatever the case may be, Sonic Forces appears to be trying to please fans of older and newer Sonic games. As long as the 2D sections don’t control as badly as they did in Sonic 4, things should be alright. This game is expected to be released on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch this holiday season. Sonic Mania was already supposed to be available, but it has been delayed twice already. Hopefully, it won’t launch too close to when Sonic Forces is supposed to drop. The die-hard Sonic fans will surely pick up both, but some may be forced to make a choice over which one to get.last_img
