Hackett, Allen Named Women’s Indoor Athletes of the Week

To earn honorable mention, a student-athlete must appear on at least 25 percent of ballots. The Wildcats and Bearkats both head west to Lubbock for the Texas Tech Indoor from Jan. 26-27. Women’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week – Alexandria Hackett, Abilene Christian – Sr. – Cranston, R.I.Hackett’s 3,000m run time of 9:40.45 earned her a top individual finish out of 23 competitors at the Ted Nelson Invitational last Saturday. She finished nearly five seconds ahead of fellow Wildcat Michaela Hackett and just over seven seconds ahead of third place. The Rhode Island native helped pace her team to a third-place finish out of eight. Honorable Mention: Alanna Arvie, McNeese; Jasmyn Steels, Northwestern State. Women’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week – Tristyn Allen, Sam Houston State – Jr. – Sealy, TexasAllen took a first-place finish in the triple jump at the Ted Nelson Invite with a distance of 41-7.75. That mark currently ranks her at No. 10 in the nation and helped lead the Bearkats to a top overall team finish out of 13 competing women’s teams.
